Meeting Minutes
Meeting called to order at 7:00pm
Meeting subsided for installation of 2026 officers by District 3 Finance Officer Doug Foote.
Meeting resumed
Roll Call made quorum was present.

Motion made by Mike Severson to accept the minutes of last meeting. Motion 2nded by Mike Hartman and carried.
1st Vice Commander; 2026 goal is 230 we are at 201 for 86.85 %. Current membership is 204
2nd Vice-Commander; A trading card show (Card Show Magic) is coming to the post, hopefully the event will be on going.
Finance Report read, motion made by Cordell Cropper to accept the finance report as read. 2nd by Ron Herr motion carried to accept.
Sgt at Arms; Eric and Chris Uke will be looking into starting the Honor Guard again.

Committee Reports:
Baseball; Member Sam Duff has volunteered to be the baseball committeeman. Scott Tighe made the motion to provide uniform patches for the teams Eric Hawes 2nd the motion. Motion carried.
Jr. Shooting; Eric Hawes has training manuals and keys to the locker. Will work on getting a more secure location for the gear.
Sons of the American Legion; 100% thank you coffee committee Mac, Kelvin Ron Herr, and all who put the effort in to making 100% happen.
Legion Riders; Memorial Day was well attended, Thank you for the Girl Scout troop participation.
Building Committee; Looking for someone to take the position as chairman, or anyone that just wants to help out, old building lots to do, doesn’t have to be regular.
Grant Committee; The Grant requests for 2027 have been prepped and ranked for presentation to the Canyon County Commissioners. The annual funding for historical projects hovers around $72K and there are more than enough requests to use up these funds. Our project to repair the fascia boards and rain gutters (around $4K) is ranked High and is a probable grant. Our project to repaint the exterior of the Chateau (around $21K) was ranked Medium High and may be granted depending on the Commissioners decisions. We should know by the end of June/ early July which grant requests will be made.
We are still waiting for Steve Trout and his staff to produce our Due Diligence Report from our 2026 grant. That too should be in July.
Old Business;
Memorial Bricks lowered to $50.00.
Post is open 12-4 daily with a salad bar.
Parade went well, looking to be better prepared for next year and make this a yearly event.
New Business;
Convention Delegates were elected Mike Severson, Kelvin Patterson, Ron Herr, Eric Hawes, Scott Tighe and the Commander, will be going in July.
The Commander talked about the coming year with many fundraisers for many projects and giving back to the community. One of the big projects being the post sign. We need members to participate if we want to keep our home.
Cordell Cropper asked about the state of rentals at the post as it used to be a main income for the post. Finance officer Patterson stated we cover all expenses with $100. To spare. Along with the canteen making about $1,000. More than supplies.
We will be hosting a COTA child from Nampa named Austin who is looking to raise funds for his organ transplant. June 28th he is selling tickets for a spaghetti feed.
We are having a Yard Sale Saturday June 6th, looking for donations and members to help set up and sell. Great succuss last year. Donations can be brought in at any time.

Cordell also mentioned the Carrie Fisher memorial being dedicated in Caldwell on Saturday and that he would be attending with the Gold Star Mothers.
Scott mentioned the 116th Idaho national guard would be hosting an end of the tank calvary
Era at Warhawk Museum in Nampa on Saturday.

Roll Call made quorum was present.
Meeting paused for final post officer nominations and elections. A motion was made by Kevin Plum to
accept the nominee list as Officers for Post 18 for 2027, 2nd by Bill Pullman. Motion carried. The following
were elected by the general membership as officers for 2027.

Commendations and Awards; Eric had no response on LEO or FD candidates, Commander
Tighe had a teacher to submit.

1st Vice Commander; 2026 goal is 230 we are at 192 for 83.48%. Just sent out 167 membership letters to Old, New and just moved to the area from other posts, to join us.
2nd Vice-Commander; Draft beer is now available at the canteen.
Finance Report read, motion made by Mike Severeson to accept, 2nd by Marvin, motion carried.
Kelvin brought forth from the E-board meeting with Prime America the
Wish to open a Money Market Account with Prime America for $2,000. From the
General account.
The commander Scott Tighe and Finance Officer to be signers on the account.
Brought before the general membership for a vote, a motion was made Jay Erb, 2nd by
Cordell Cropper. Motion carried.

Baseball; No recent discussions with the city land swap on the ballpark. Still looking to hold a pizza/ burger bash for the players and their families.
Jr. Shooting; Eric Hawes is looking to take over the Shooting program. Will work with Randle Barnham to get the book and keys back.
Sons of the American Legion; Goal is 15, we have members 13 paid for 86%. Anyone that knows of potential member, please see Commander Tighe.
Building Committee; Looking for some to take a position as chairman, or anyone that just has wants to help out, old building lots to do, doesn’t have to be regular. Flag pole light and sign lighting has been repaired.
Grant Committee; One of 4 items on current grant list completed. Please submit any ideas for building improvement to Jay for consideration.
